About teacher Chantal de wijs

Online Dutch teacher Chantal introduces herself

My name is Chantal de Wijs, an enthusiastic bon vivant with a passion for good education and the world. I get up with a smile and usually end the day the same way.

With more than 70 countries under my belt, you could rightly call me a true travel enthusiast. Together with my husband, three dogs and two cats, I lived on the tropical island of Bonaire for a number of years. At the moment, we’re travelling through Europe with our travelling pack, living and working in different places. That freedom and the encounters with other cultures give me lots of energy and inspiration, which I also bring to my lessons.

As a Dutch teacher, I enjoy helping children develop their language skills. Every child learns in their own way and at their own pace. That’s why I base my teaching on the pupil’s educational needs and tailor my lessons to what a child needs to learn successfully. It’s precisely these differences between pupils that make my work so varied.

I believe it is important to continue developing myself. That is why I undertake courses and training programmes every year, including in the area of vocabulary development, so that I can continually expand my knowledge and skills and offer my pupils the best possible support.

The education I have followed:

  • Pabo
  • Dutch teacher training
  • Language coordinator training
  • Training as a trainer in social skills, fear of failure reduction, and exam anxiety

My work experience:

I have taught pupils from Year 3 right up to the final year of VMBO. For me, teaching is the best job in the world.

In addition to my work as a teacher, I have experience as a language coordinator and as a trainer in social skills, reducing fear of failure and exam anxiety. I also have many years’ experience of online teaching, something I still enjoy doing very much for Dutch for Children.

Did you know that teacher Chantal lived in Bonaire? Your child can read more about that country on the Wikikids page.
