About teacher Lindsey van Barneveld

Online Dutch teacher Lindsey: “Good day! My name is Lindsey van Barneveld. I live with my family in the Netherlands.

Besides working as a group teacher in Dutch primary education, I enjoy working at Dutch for Children. I love teaching children and guiding them in their development.

Language runs like a thread through my education and work. After finishing the PABO, I started the Master of Special Educational Needs program.

This master’s is designed for teachers, coordinators, managers, and other professionals who want to further professionalize in the field of caring for students with special educational needs. Here, I took several courses, mainly focusing on language.

After graduating, I worked for a few years as a substitute teacher. This means that I worked in different schools for both longer and shorter periods.

Meanwhile, I have been working as a group teacher at a school in the Netherlands for a few years now. Here, I teach children from many different countries. This is a beautiful and instructive experience every day.

Teaching children in an interactive and meaningful way is what appeals to me in education. I find it important that a child learns with pleasure and in addition is proud of what he or she learns.”
